OCTET
Korsa Alumni Project
November 11-December 20, 2026
Live Oak Theater, Berkeley
Music, lyrics, and book by Dave Malloy
Inspired by internet comment boards, scientific debates, religious texts, and Sufi poetry, this acappella chamber musical explores addiction and nihilism in the messy context of 21st-century technology. In a church basement, eight internet addicts lock their phones in a box and have a support meeting. Their confessions and attempts at connection reveal the often mundane, sometimes profound, and always overwhelming ways that contemporary technology has shaped our existence – set against the haunting, analog sound of eight voices in harmony.
URINETOWN
January 29-February 7, 2027
Douglas Morrisson Theatre, Hayward
Music by Mark Hollman, lyrics by Mark Hollman & Greg Kotis, book by Greg Kotis
In the not-so-distant future, a terrible drought and water shortage has led to the unthinkable: a ban on private toilets and a totalitarian crackdown on public urination. Forced to pay a megalomaniacal corporation for the right to do their private business, the poor stage a revolt – but are freedom and revolution all they’re cracked up to be? Spoofing the music of Kurt Weill and the plays of Bertolt Brecht, Urinetown is a whip-smart, wickedly-funny romp that satirizes capitalism, bureaucracy, climate change, and even musical theater itself.
HADESTOWN
April 23-May 2, 2027
Douglas Morrisson Theatre, Hayward
Music, lyrics, & book by Anaïs Mitchell
Welcome to Hadestown, where a song can change your fate. In a barren, post-apocalyptic world where nothing is certain, two love stories play out: young dreamer Orpheus pursues the headstrong Euridyce, and Hades, King of the Underworld, oversees a ruthless prison camp where eternally-damned workers toil to build a wall to keep in Queen Persephone. A jazz-folk score breathes new life into these ancient intertwining love stories and takes us on an unforgettable journey to hell and back.
FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
July 23-August 1, 2027
El Cerrito High School Performing Arts Theater, El Cerrito
Music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, book by Joseph Stein
Just as brilliant and profound today as it was in 1964, the musical theater classic Fiddler on the Roof tells the story of Tevye, a poor milkman trying to marry off his daughters in turn-of-the-century Russia. Guided by the shtetl’s faith and traditions, Tevye and his community face cultural changes, the looming threat of expulsion, and the unstoppable force of young love with humor and heart. Filled with beautiful songs, exhilarating dances, and memorable characters, Fiddler is a deeply inspiring and eternally entertaining masterpiece.
