URINETOWN AUDITION INFO
ROLES and ELIGIBILITY
- Roles are open to students in grades 7-college age (rising 7th graders welcome).
- All roles in this production are available to students.
- The ensemble in this show is fantastic. You will never have more fun or get more of a theatrical work-out than in the ensemble of Urinetown – a ton of singing, dancing, solos, little funny bits, and chances to shine. Some ensemble members will also understudy principal roles.
TIME and PLACE
Preliminary auditions will include a 1-hour dance call PLUS individual vocal auditions (auditioners will sign up for both a dance call slot and a vocal slot). Information about callbacks can be found below.
- Tuesday August 25, slots from 3:30pm–9:20pm, at Korsa’s Aquatic Park Campus (2945 Bolivar Drive, Berkeley)
WHAT TO PREPARE
- A song/excerpt of a song in the style of the show – 1 minute or less, ideally comedic. Please bring sheet music in the key you would like to sing in, double-sided and 3-hole-punched and in a binder.
- There will be a dance call, so please come dressed to dance. This means form-fitting, stretchy clothes and dance shoes or lightweight athletic sneakers. No Crocs, Uggs, or Doc Martens, please.
- Want help preparing? Read our tips on How to Prepare for An Audition.
CALLBACKS
- Callbacks will be held on Saturday August 29 and Sunday August 30 (exact times TBD).
- Callbacks will include reading and singing from the show.
- If we need to see you for a specific role at callbacks, we will notify you within 1-3 days after auditions.
- If you are not asked to come to callbacks, that does not mean you are no longer being considered for the show.
- Not being able to come to callbacks makes it difficult for us to consider you, especially for a lead role – please do your best to be available for at least 1 of the dates!

CASTING PROCESS/TIMELINE:
- Role offers will be sent out anywhere from 1-6 weeks after auditions.
- After the cast is finalized, all students who auditioned will hear back from Korsa about whether or not they were cast. We ask that students and their families be patient in waiting for a casting announcement, and we promise we will let you know!
- Students may ask for feedback once the casting process is complete.
TUITION and TUITION ASSISTANCE
Korsa is a tuition-based training program. Actors cast in the show will register and pay tuition once casting is complete. Tuition for Urinetown is $2,500. Tuition amounts are based on the amount of training hours offered with professional theater teaching artists – this production will offer more than 265 hours of training. Tuition Assistance and full scholarships (Founders Scholarship, College Mentorship) are available and can be applied for during registration, after casting decisions are made – Korsa casts need-blind, meaning we do not ask for any financial information at auditions and we do not cast the show with financial need in mind. Korsa is committed to making our programs accessible to all students, regardless of economic status. We have never turned a student away for lack of funds. Learn more about our Tuition Assistance options here.
