OCTET AUDITION INFO

ROLES and ELIGIBILITY

  • Auditions are open to students who will be in grades 11-college age in fall 2026
  • Korsa Alumni Projects feature a combination of Korsa students, alumni, teaching artists, and local professionals in onstage and understudy roles. Certain roles may only be open to alumni/teaching artist/professional actors, at the discretion of the casting team.
  • There are 8 roles in this show and 4-8 offstage standby/understudies.

    WHAT TO PREPARE

    • Record yourself singing a 1-minute musical theater song/excerpt that shows off the strongest part of your vocal range, a cappella (without accompaniment). Comedic or dramatic works – pick something juicy, acting-wise.
    • Begin by playing your starting note on a pitch pipe or piano, then start your song (so we can track your ability to stay on pitch/in key).
    • Upload the video as an unlisted Youtube link and write the link in your audition form.
    • Video guidelines:
      • Record yourself from at least the torso up, ideally in a room with good lighting (make sure you aren’t directly backlit)
      • If you need help or have questions about recording your video audition, feel free to email our Casting Director (celeste@korsamt.org).
    • Want help preparing? Read our tips on How to Prepare for An Audition.

        CALLBACKS

        • Callbacks will be a mix of video submissions and potential in-person callbacks for specific roles, depending on auditioner availability, in March and April 2026.

        CASTING PROCESS/TIMELINE:

        • Role offers will be sent out anywhere from 1-4 weeks after auditions.
        • After the cast is finalized, all students who auditioned will hear back from Korsa about whether or not they were cast. We ask that students and their families be patient in waiting for a casting announcement, and we promise we will let you know!
        • Students may ask for feedback once the casting process is complete.

        TUITION and TUITION ASSISTANCE

Korsa is a tuition-based training program for students. Tuition for Octet is $2,300 (offstage understudy tuition is $1,500). Tuition amounts are based on the amount of training hours offered with professional theater teaching artists – this production will offer more than 200 hours of training. Tuition Assistance and full scholarships (Founders Scholarship, College Mentorship) are available and can be applied for during registration, after casting decisions are made. Korsa is committed to making our programs accessible to all students, regardless of economic status. We have never turned a student away for lack of funds.
